PSVL - Panasonic Silicon Valley Labs
Panasonic Silicon Valley Laboratory (PSVL) was an experimental group working with prototype sensors and creating unique user experiences. I was an industrial designer working on emerging technologies that applied to consumer and business products. Some examples below were projects that I led or was part of a team creating new user experiences.
Hover technology
The display division came to PSVL and asked us how their technology could be applied to the mass market. After market research and series of brainstorming, we proposed that this technology can be useful on languages that have many characters or complex characters (i.e. kanji).
It was applied on Japanese smartphone keyboards, where user hovers over a vowel and a sub-menu appears, where user can choose the consonants (shown at 00:00:15). This resulted in quicker input and less visual complexity to the user.

3D gesture remote control
This project was show at CES, showcasing a gesture controlled TV remote control. I supported the hardware design and contributed to some of the workflow mapping.
